Finally.. here are the a few of the photos i took during the 2009 Sinulog Grand Parade... :)
theyre not awesome... but... i had an amazing time shooting and watching the different contingents present their dances... :)

this is my first year to shoot for the sinulog festival.. and this will definitely not be my last.... see you all next year! |
| | Again.. i was all by myself... but it was an adventure..
my friends would surely agree with me if i say that im not a big fan of long walks...
i depend too much on cabs that i barely know street names here in cebu...
lol.. kung kaila jud ta... kasabot jud kas akong pasabot.. wahehehe...
joining the procession all by myself was definitely a first.. and not to mention trying to shoot while in the procession...
so i was trying to find a good spot where i can wait for the sto niño to pass... where there are less people.. because im pretty sure when the sto niño would pass.. there would be a huge commotion and it would be impossible for me to get a decent shot without getting crushed by the people.. lol....
and then i found this flyover ... i dont know what the name of the place was.. but you can see it in the pictures.. there were kids in costumes standing on the flyover waiting for the sto niño too... so i talked to this tanod and asked if i could stay there and take pictures... and she said no... then i noticed another photographer who asked her the same thing too.. and this time he was kind of pissed.. he was making yawyaw .. then i explained to this tanod that we joined the photo contest.. which is exactly the purpose of having an id.. so we can have access to closed areas for us to be able to take good photos... and that we actually payed 500php for it... so she was like.. oh! ok... you can go.. and then we were like celebrating a little na.. but then we realized that we had to climb pa diay through the yellow thingy.. kanang murag kural.. because it was ordered that the flyover ve closed lang jud.. so noone would go up...
and i was like WTF??? i have to climb? what the hell did i get myself into?? lol..
but i had no choice.. good thing the other tanod was nice enough to assist me.. and the other guy was the one who held my bag.. hehehehehe... but it was totally crazy... people were like staring at us... hahaha!! talk about attention grabber?!!!! dah.. bahala sila...
so yeah.. i was able to go na sa flyover.. and made friends with the kids... the other photogs and those barangay officials in that place... and the fun part was that when the sto niño was really close na.. we all decided that we throw petals and confetti ... it was supposed to be the kids job man unta.. but we thought it would be fun if we all participated... and then we shouted pit señor! as we released the petals and confetti... :) it was just awesome...
and then i left the place... and joined the procession na jud... but i stopped like every 15mins to catch my breath and take some photos and watch the people pass...
i was just amazed that i actually did this all by myself.. im not an independent person man gud... i think photography has actually given me courage to do stuff that i dont usually do... i know it sounds cheesy.. but i think its true... :) |

@ the Cebu City Sports Complex
ok.. so i got there alone since gabby (my photography buddy) wont be able to go to the event... i looked for DPP people and they were all set... so i just said hi and then looked for a good spot...
and then i noticed that.. there was barely any female in the photographers area..and to make matters worse.. i looked like a midget beside the other guys.. they were just tall... waaaaaaaaa!! i just panicked big time! lol.....
then i saw the gears that the other photographers had.. i was soooo bummed! they had bazookas with them... their lenses looked like theyre ready to blow up buildings! hahahaha... honestly i got super discouraged... because i knew my photos wont be as awesome as their photos... not even close! but then.. i realized.. these guys are old .. theyve been doing photography for several years.. and most of them do this for a living! so its only understandable that they have complete gears... and i only started this hobby.. ive only been doing this for like 3-4 mos?
well anyways.. so i got this "kind- of-ok" spot... it was in front... but we were at the sides... i only had the kitlens so i knew i was effed up... good thing a good friend of mine named LOR AIREEN UNABIA had a VIP ticket.. and gave it to me... she was such an angel even though she arrived really late... :) lol...
so yeah.. i got inside the vip area.. and uhmm.. i guess i had better shots na... better...but not good... lol...
im sooo NOT happy with my shots.. but im just gonna post them anyway because it was an awesome experience.. and i worked for it..
the program was great... it started on time.. whew! and i met new friends.. really nice photographers who gave me encouraging words to pursue photography... :) Sir Doydoy and Sir Alvin.. Thank you.. i also met new friends who came all the way to cebu to shoot for the sinulog.. :) Sir Chris.. and Sir Jon... thanks for the treat.. and taking our picture with Ms. Carla Henry... i just wish i could snatch your 5D Mk II ..amf...
even if my shots are really bad... im ok with it.. at least i know what i need for next year... :)
and oh... to MISS LOR AIREEN UNABIA.. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE TICKET... mubawi ra nya ko nimo... hehehehe....

attended the 4:30 Mass at the Basilica del Sto. Niño with amor, jah and her friends..
then went to mcdonald's ... AGAIN... to grab a bite while waiting for kriza and before going to the cebu city sports complex to shoot for the Sinulog's Festival Queen... :) |

@PARKMALL ... more or less 5 mins away from our school ... :)
ok.. so we had a really effed up schedule today... first, we werent warned ahead of time that our schedule today was somehow changed... instead of having return demonstrations for our backlogs.. it was changed to a theory class..
alot of people came in late... i got lucky that i didnt feel lazy despite the very "sleep-conducive" weather..lol... i arrived in school rather early... hmm.. i must have an angel... :) haha..
well anyways.. we were given a 4 hour break... which was pretty messed up.. we should have finished the class all the way till 12 ... and we wouldve been free for the afternoon.... (boang lang jud ang nagbuot sa sched...)
ok.. so me and my beloved animal friends decided to go to parkmall... :) i picked up my camera at home and then we drove to parkmall na dayon...
nya as usual... rochkif rochkif daun... wa nasad koy labot.. as expected.. wahaha.. pero ok ra.. heheh.. lab man nako sila....
we ate lunch at kfc... pig out mode... :) then tuyok2 nasad around the place....
we were supposed to go to caltex... kay nanginvite akong friend nga GRAFFITI GOD... named UZII...aka OSAMU hahaha.. nya wa nlang kay ma-late na nya mi for our class.... wahehehe..
and then we headed to our car... we noticed a piece of torn out paper clipped on the windshield wipers .. it was a note... which said:
"I was masturbating beside your car. I wet your door handle with sperm. Have you feel it?"

sa kadaghan nagpark ngadto... among sakyanan pajud ang napilian sa giatay... lol....

and you wont be spending Christmas with your mom for the first time ever...
you get really bored........... really really bored....
then you pick up your camera.....
you look for stuff that are interesting enough to be taken photos of...
you think of a nice concept.. make your own backdrop... such as a used illustration board perhaps....
and then you set up your tripod..
look for a good light source... your vanity lamp for instance...
and then you turn off all the other lights ...
snap 20 shots or so...
and VOILA! you end up with just a handful of decent looking photographs...
